Dr. Crabtree is the Group Medical Director for Aspen Medical International (AMI) a global company with deep expertise in the delivery of healthcare solutions in remote, challenging and under-resourced environments.
Prior to forming AMI he retired as a Colonel from the US Army. During his military career, Dr. Crabtree served as a trauma and reconstructive surgeon in multiple domestic, overseas and combat settings. He was also seconded to the UN on several occasions to support various Department of Peacekeeping Operations missions.
Dr. Crabtree also served as the medical director and the senior medical advisor to the US Pacific Command’s Center of Excellence in Disaster Management and Humanitarian Assistance. He held the same position with The Naval Postgraduate School’s Center for Civil Military Relations Global Health Program. In this capacity, Dr. Crabtree was responsible for guiding, brokering and executing myriad civil-military medical assistance efforts and health development programs around the globe.
At Aspen Medical International, Dr. Crabtree has built an extensive network of private clinics across Africa and the Middle East linked by AMI owned and operated aeromedical platforms. He also recently led large-scale AMI efforts running multiple USAID and DFID supported Ebola Treatment Units across West Africa, served as clinical director of three AMI run WHO Trauma Hospitals in Mosul and was CMO of the AMI run UN hospital in Mogadishu.
Dr. Crabtree is a graduate of Harvard and Stanford. He completed his general surgery training in San Francisco and Tucson and his plastic surgery training in Washington DC and Baltimore.
